Baby Judith

There has been a plethora of zombie movies where humans are forced to deal with a zombie apocalypse. However there hasn't been a television with this very same theme, until now! Bear McCreary's The Walking Dead is a television show in which a group of people join together to survive this zombie apocalypse. The group has lost and gained people throughout the show, and the group is currently in a prison still filled with walkers (Zombies). The protagonist of the group is Rick, who has a son named Carl and a wife named Lori whom is pregnant. While in the prison, there was a walker attack and the group was separated. Lori began to go into labor, and it was Maggie and Carl there to assist her. Maggie performed a C-section on Lori and she unfortunately did not survive the child birth. Little baby Judith was born into the zombie world, this being the only baby that the group has ever seen during the zombie outbreak. To the current day in the show, the zombie outbreak is about a year old.

There has been a lot of talk and confusion on how a baby could survive in this world due to the fact that there is no mother, which in turns make it difficult to get baby formula, and there is also little baby food left. However a few members would go make a run for some food and baby formula now and again. With these harsh conditions, Judith has survived a whole season, which was approximately 3 or 4 months long. Through that time span, there has been little concentration of her progress and how she she is remaining so healthy living with the little amount of supplies they have. My theory is that this is not a normal baby! As far as the viewer knows, this has been the only baby ever born into the Walking Dead, which in a sense could make her different from everyone else. The walkers may have the same ideal to Judith. In other words, the walkers may not smell Judith, which makes her untouchable to walkers. This advantage cold make Judith impossible to kill by the walkers. This discovery could create a solution for the zombie apocalypse, which would be to repopulate the earth and start over.

  1. I have never seen this show, but I know it is very popular! It sounds very interesting and your description makes me wonder if you think there is symbolism in the show.

After reading your blog entry the first question I asked myself:

Could the birth of the baby symbolize the rebirth of regular civilization? ( is this something you have also thought about?)

Psychological theorist, Carl Jung, considered children to symbolize personality development and a potential future. Could this theory relate Baby Judith from the show?

  2. I've only seen a few episodes of this show, but from what I saw everything looks like complete chaos. I don't understand how a baby could survive especially since it's hard for the people to survive. I don't really understand your theory though. Is baby Judith untouchable by the walkers because she is a baby? Will she always remain untouchable by the walkers, or will it all change when she gets older?

    1. Baby Judith is untouchable by the walkers because she was conceived and birthed during this zombie apocalypse. Judith will remain untouchable by walkers for the rest of her life, along with other humans that will be born during this time period.

  3. I believe that the birth of Judith does indeed symbolize the rebirth of civilization and a basic restart of humanity as we know it. It is however just a conspiracy theory that can be disproved in a few days. The new episode this sunday should give us a hint on this subject

  4. This is an interesting theory, Ray. So interesting that I' hope that it turns out to be true.
But remember: Long before civilization, babies survived predators and the elements and went without man-made medicine or formula.
If Judith is some sort of hybrid, how/when could she have been 'zombified'?

Be sure to proofread for usage problems like: "The walkers may have the same ideal to Judith," and danglers like: "Maggie performed a C-section on Lori and she unfortunately did not survive the child birth."

  5. I specifically waited to comment back after the season finale to see if my theory gained amy hints of being true. It turns out that their wasn't any, and i might have to wait a while to see if my theory is correct.
I wasn't saying the Judith was a hybrid or any type of super human, nor did i say she was zombified. However, I was simply saying that she can not be detected by zombies, which in my opinion is a beacon of hope.
